Ingredients for an effective DIY natural drain cleaner

Method

To make your own natural and safe drain cleaner, you should start by collecting the above ingredients. Once you’ve got them ready, bring about three litres of water to a gentle boil and add half a cup of salt. Pour this down your drains first, as it can often be enough to minimise the growth of biofilm and wash away any minor blockages in your pipes.
For more stubborn blocked drains and pipes, pour down the hot water and salt mixture first and let that sit for 15 minutes. Then pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by half a cup of vinegar or lemon juice. Put some sort of cover over the drain, and allow it to sit for a while. The chemical reaction caused by the baking soda and acid will foam up and dislodge blockages. After you have let it sit for a while, flush a few more litres of hot water through the pipes to remove any residue.

DIY Bathroom cleaner

Get a spray bottle and fill it about two-thirds full with water. Add ¼ cup of baking soda and top it up with lemon juice or vinegar. This is more than adequate for household cleaning.
If you want to clean windows or mirrors, try making another solution which doesn’t have the baking soda. Lemon juice and water alone make an excellent mirror or glass cleaning solution which is cheap and safe.
